Technology and Process

There is a journey that light must make from the moment it enters the camera lens until it finally arrives before you on a screen. It is this journey that largely determines how affecting the imagery will be. So what enables a Moving Mural to stop you in your tracks? They are revolutionary. Very few people have ever interacted with video that is truly without compromise.

It all begins in the field. We capture our footage at digital cinema 4K and beyond. The Epic Eye team routinely shoots well beyond 4K for our Moving Murals line. To put it another way, each Moving Mural is able to modestly approach an IMAX-like experience in your home or business.

The journey of light does not end at the capture stage. In fact, it is only the beginning. If a Moving Mural is to truly be a window into another reality then nothing must interfere with the transportive nature of each scene. It must retain its organic quality - the very same characteristics that attracted the camera operator to set up the shot in the first place. The blades of grass and the dewdrops clinging to them must be evident. The silk of an ambitious spider web glistening in the sun must be real enough to touch.

So, what is the obstacle? We live in a world where data needs to be transported as simply as possible to accommodate the current infrastructure and the explosion of wireless technologies. Therefore, data is compressed, or streamlined, so that it doesn't jam the information highways. The side effect is that video quality must take a deliberate and often sizable hit. It loses the very characteristics that enable it to move people. From our perspective this is unacceptable. That is why we have incorporated state-of-the-art custom playback systems with the Moving Murals product line (to utilize the highest quality imaging technology). These systems allow the viewer to revel in pure uncompressed video and thus, the Journey of Light remains unimpeded.

What does this mean in lay terms? It means that the video quality from a Moving Mural is over 110 times better than a standard DVD. Ok, but what about HD television signals? A Moving Mural is superior to the. tune of 75 times that of your typical HD programming. Even more impressive, the video quality is over 24 times that delivered by Blu-Ray technology. It is the attention to detail during the entire Journey of Light, which allows Moving Murals to become something rather otherworldly. Or, more accurately, completely, and unabashedly worldly.
